Ma'an - On November 6th, Dr. Mona Elfara'a from Al Awda hospital in Jabalia in Gaza gave the following eyewitness account"

"No-one is safe. This morning little five and six-year old children, wounded in a missile attack, were brought to our hospital. They were shaking and crying with fear. Their teacher Najwa Kholeef had been wounded in the head. A sixteen-year old boy and twenty-year old man had
been killed.

I have seen some of the shrapnel that was recovered from the previous day's injuries, marked clearly with USA, the shrapnel and the kinds of wounds are unusual, surgeons have not come across them before, some of the bodies with totally burnt, limbs are missing and one of the bodies was covered with hundreds of pieces of small shrapnel. We do not have the time and facilities to investigate the causes.

Tanks and armored vehicles have been surrounding the Beit Hanoun hospital for the last six days and preventing medical volunteers and victims of violence from reaching it.

On Sunday our colleagues, 21 year old ambulance driver Ahmad Madhun and medical volunteer Mustafa Habib were murdered and Dannielle Abu Samra was wounded while trying to tend to the wounded. "

Mashal calls on resistance factions to avenge the Beit Hanoun killings
IMEMC & Agencies - Wednesday, 08 November 2006, 16:56

Hamas political bureau cheif, Khaled Mashal, called on the Palestinian resistance factions to retaliate to the Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people “and the massacres conducted against them”.

“Resistance is the real retaliation to the Zionist massacres against the Palestinian people”, Mashal stated, “the Palestinians must retaliate hard and avenge the killing of women and children”.

Mashal also held Israel and the United States responsible for the continuous cycle of violence, and said; “the USA said several days ago that Israel is defending itself, and now Israel killed 19 residents, and the number of casualties since Wednesday arrived to 59”.

He also said that “it is unfortunate that this massacre was carried out while the International Community is silent, and the Arab countries are idle”.

“There should be an international court that charges the Israeli leaders with War Crimes”, Mashal added, “Ehud Olmert, Amir Peretz, Dan Haltz and Avigdor Lieberman carried war crimes against humanity”.

Mashal appealed that Arab countries to take “bold decisions and initiatives to lift the Israeli and American siege imposed on the Palestinian people”, and demanded the Arab nations to move “and protest against the siege in all available means”.

Cementing of the calls of president Abbas to the armed faction to halt the firing of homemade shells into Israeli settlements adjacent to the Gaza borders, Mashal said that Israel is ongoing with its attacks against the Palestinians, and is stepping up its aggression.

Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, slammed the Israeli attack that killed twenty residents, all family members and relatives, and described the attack as a horrible and ugly massacre. Abbas stated that Israel does not want peace, security and stability.

“it seems that Israel is comfortable with the current situation”, Abbas stated, “therefore, it is carrying barbarian acts without anything to stop it”.

In a press conference in Gaza City, Abbas said that he demanded the International Community to stop the Israeli military crimes, and demanded that Arab countries and communities to aid the Palestinian people.

“Beit Hanoun is a martyr today, all of it, the Israeli army might have ended its massacres today, or not”, Abbas sated, “I hereby declare, with sorrow, Beit Hanoun as an afflicted zone”.

“If the international community wants to help, then they should come here and help us”, Abbas added.

Abbas also said that he asked the Arab League and the Security Council to hold continuous sessions “so we can face this crises together”, “We want the whole world to see what Israel id doing to us”.

Also, Abbas said that he also phone the General Secretary of the Security Council, the General Secretary of the United Nations, officials in the United States and the European Union, and several other countries.

Commenting on the national dialogue, Abbas said that the Palestinians need their unity, and need the national talks between all factions.

Meanwhile, Palestinian Prime Minister, Ismail Haniyya said that all talks on the formation of a national unity government are halted and that all efforts should now be concentrated on ending the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

Haniyya also called on the Security Council to convene and take a decision to impose sanctions on Israel, and to take all the needed measures to protect the Palestinian people.
